• Job Title: Senior/Mid Java Backend Developer
• Reporting to: Manager or Team Lead

The solutions built by our Client are used by tens of millions of users every day and our customers include the great majority of key businesses in the gaming field.

Role description:

You will join one of the Scrum teams and you will be working on building complex, real-time, low-low latency web applications used by more than 20 million users daily. You will also develop interactive dashboards and scoreboards supporting thousands of requests per seconds, processing gigabytes of data per day. You will contribute to all phases of the development lifecycle. You will write well designed, efficient code. You will ensure designs are in compliance with specifications.  You will also support continuous improvement by investigating alternatives and technologies and presenting these for architectural review

Technologies and tools:

• Java 8 (upgrading to Java 11)
• Java 12  (for PoC and evaluation)
• AWS native cloud services -> to be developed
• JUnit and Spock, Cucumber and Gatling (for testing)
• Gradle and Maven
• Splunk (monitoring)

Skills needed

• Strong knowledge and working experience in Java development
• Hands-on experience in designing and developing backend applications using Java 8
• Familiarity of Java 8+
• Experience with Object-Oriented analysis and design
• Knowledge of Relational Databases and NoSQL Databases
• Experience with high traffic systems and products
• Understanding enterprise applications operational aspects (scalability, monitoring, zero downtime upgrades etc.)
• Experience with TDD
• Excellent English skills (written and spoken)
• Knowledge and practical experience of Agile delivery principles and practices (Scrum or Kanban)

Nice to have:

• Experience in API development (RESTful, SOAP or other)
• Functional programming
